Modern Office Practice

In the present high-tech era of the twenty first century, office practices and procedures have also witnessed a tremendous change due to the advancement in science and technology. Innovative methods have been introduced to handle the immense office work more efficiently and precisely. The conventional office practices with manual file handling system, type writers and old means of communication have become more or less obsolete with the introduction of computers in the field of office management. Due to the invasion of multi-national companies in this belt, the demand for competent secretaries and assistants adept in handling the diverse office work has shot up. Taking these facts into account, a three-year diploma course in Modern Office Practices was introduced in the institute in the year 2007. Admissions to this course are done on the basis of 10+2 marks of the admission-seekers. During their course of study, the students are taught various management, business and commerce subjects: they are also given intensive training in shorthand and typing on computers, handling of modern office equipment and office management techniques, so as to enable them to handle various office jobs. To reinforce the theoretical fundamentals, the students are sent to varied industries and offices for practical training during the sixth semester.
